How DrumThat makes money

DrumThat is reader-supported. When you click a “Check Price” button on this site and buy the product through a partner retailer, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. The product price is the same whether you click our link or go to the retailer directly.

Programs we participate in

At launch, DrumThat participates in a single affiliate program:

  • Amazon Associates Program (US) — every “Check on Amazon” button on the site routes through this program with our tracking tag attached.

We are evaluating additional partners (Sweetwater, Guitar Center / Musician’s Friend, Reverb, Drumeo) and will list each one here, with the program name and the network it runs through, before any link to that retailer goes live on the site. Until then, no other retailer pays us anything for any click.

What this does not affect

Our editorial rankings are completely independent of which programs pay us what. The cymbal we name as the “Best Overall” in a buyer’s guide is the cymbal we’d recommend if no affiliate program existed. Specifically:

  • We do not rank products higher because their affiliate program pays us more.
  • We do not exclude products from rankings because their manufacturer doesn’t run an affiliate program.
  • We do not change rankings based on which retailers stock a product.
  • We do not accept payment to write reviews, modify rankings, or remove competitor mentions.

If a ranking on DrumThat ever surprises you with what looks like a commercial decision, email [email protected] with the page URL and we’ll either explain or revise.

How affiliate links work technically

Every “Buy” or “Check Price” button on DrumThat goes through a DrumThat-hosted redirect at /go/<program>/<id>/. That redirect immediately sends you to the partner retailer with our tracking code attached. We use this redirect pattern so we can swap programs, change tracking codes, or rotate retailers without rewriting content. It does not change anything about your purchase — you land on the retailer’s page exactly as if you’d typed the URL directly.
