I play in a psychedelic band and I wanted to add some new effects to our tracks. So I decided to buy Roland Octapad SPD 30. I know it`s not the newest one, but I read a lot about it. From my experience so far, it`s a good pad. I needed some time to learn and see all the possibilities it offers. I expected a little more drum kit and snare samples for the money. Pads have nice sensitivity and you can play them even with your hands. Be aware that you can`t use it as a metronome. The audible metronome only works when you are in a recording mode. It`s easily transported but be sure to buy some hand case, it`s fragile. Also, a good option is to buy some appropriate mount for it to stand still and safe.
It`s an old-school strike pad with amazing sounds. I wanted something to spice up my drums. Pads feel fantastic. The screen allows you to see everything. It`s very simple to use. Lights shine out of every pad, so you can easily see which pad is played. I love the ability to lay down multiple tracks at once. Often I use it to `compose` full track just using this octapad. What could I say about the Phrase Loop option? Top-notch. I like everything about this pad. It`s not cheap but you should seriously consider it if you want a professional pad. Interesting and fun to play.
