Be sure that your kid is taller than about 3ft otherwise, it will have to stretch to reach the pedal. We`ve got the blue one and has nice look. The sound is decent and I noticed it gets even better if you tune it perfectly. The bass drum, in my opinion, has a too-tight head which produces a punchy sound. Cymbals are crap.
But considering the fact I bought the kit for my junior, they will serve a purpose. I think Ludwig Junior drum is a durable kit. I know that because the hardware looks sturdy. And also because I play it more than my child does and everything seems solid. It is a bit more expensive than similar ones but my kid is satisfied so am I.

Bang for buck:
I`ve bought this kit for my 7-year-old son. Without previous knowledge, I guess you will have to take some time assembling the kit. When you do it you will find out that it`s easy to adjust and holds strong. If you assemble and tune it properly you will get a great sound. Drums sound great for their size. They are solid and well-built. The snare is an entry-level drum that needs correct tuning for good sound. The pedals are at the same level. They could be made a bit quicker as the drummer skills get better. But they will probably be the first thing to crash. Cymbals also. They are thin and small so they don`t provide a sound as expected. Overall, for the juniors and someone who is just entering the world of drumming, worth the money for sure.
